Foreign Language Methods Class: CI Demo

Every year I’m delighted to go back to my Alma Mater, the University of Nevada, Reno,  and “guest lecture” at the Foreign Language Methods Class.  I love chatting about about language acquisition and sharing activities and strategies that illustrate the power of Comprehensible Input to future language teachers.

If you’re near a University and have some CI experience, go! Reach out to the method’s professor! Offer to teach a class! Give these future teachers a taste of CI! Chances are they came from traditional language classes…show them that their language classes can be more than grammar drills and vocab memorization.

Here’s the power point I use and make available to students. I wanted to give them a little theory and lots of activities to try out. If you’re looking for a smattering of CI fun things, you might find it useful as well.

  1. Amazing lecture, AnneMarie!! Thanks so much for tying the theory to so many concrete practices and activities! Everyone in the class reported that they felt much more prepared to teach on a day to day basis. I think you’ve recruited a whole new group of CI converts!
